本章对SAE核心网部分的基本特性进行了描述,这些特性中跟Non-3GPP相关的,对3GPP来说,是新的特性。但是跟3GPP接入相关的部分,几乎都是对原来GPRS的特性既有继承,也有发展的。这是因为每种系统的发展,既要考虑到与原有系统的兼容性,以保证系统的平滑演进,也要对原有的系统特性进行优化,同时还要兼顾新的需求,增加新的功能。比如,移动性管理模型,与原有的GPRS移动性管理模型相比,既有共同点,也有不同点;还有跟踪区,虽然是个新的名称,但是相比原来的路由区也有许多相似的原理,但又增加了跟踪区列表这个概念,以减少空闲模式下的信令交互,能够优化系统的性能。
